Solar pumping system is a system that converts solar energy into electricity and drive pump for water supply.

System construction

The solar photovoltaic pumped systems is mainly composed of three parts: solar cell module, PV pump inverter and three-phase AC pump.

The solar cell array is composed of a plurality of solar cell modules connected in series and in parallel, which absorbed sunshine radiations and converts it into electrical energy to provide power for the whole system.

Solar pump inverter/controller controls and regulates the operation of the system, converts the DC power generated by the solar cell array into AC power, drives the water pump, and adjusts the output frequency in real time according to the change of the sunshine intensity to achieve maximum power point tracking and maximizes the use of solar energy.

The pump is driven by a three-phase AC motor, pumping water from a deep well, injecting it into a reservoir/pool or directly into the irrigation system.

According to the actual system requirements and installation conditions, different types of pump can be used for operation. The powering of the systems ranges from 0.75KW to higher, the water lifting stroked can be 10 meters or higher, and the daily water lift capacity can be more than 5 tons.

First, select solar pump inverter model.  PV800-4T22G, Accept 350VDC to 800VDC input, or 380V/440VAC input; Oupput 0-380VAC, 22KW, 45A.

Second, solar arrays instalation. Vmp, and power selection.

If your solar panel specification is: 300W, vmp36VDC, then how to do?

A: The power of solar arrays should be more than 1.3 times of rated power of pumps. To get enough power for the system we need the quantity of solar panels are (22KW*1.3)/300W≈96pieces    

B: Get enough Vmp from solar panel for starting inverter. Since the inverter need to gerenteen enough 380VAC output, so the input voltage should be 380VAC*√2≈532VDC.

C: We need to consider how to connect the panel. The input voltage is 532VDC, and the vmp of a solar panel is 36VDC, so we can only have 532VDC/36VDC≈15pieces panel connection in series. Total 96pieces/15pieces≈7group in parallel.
